Portland-based architectural firm Nakamura Sojourn Studio has completed in 2010 the renovation of a Hotel constructed circa 1940.
The original building had the upper floor covered with heavy timber support columns and super sized beams, while the rest of the building was dark and more contained.
The renovation project was carried out by Revamp Interior Design.
Hotel Renovation in Portland by Nakamura Sojourn Studio:
“A classic Portland building, ours for its unique character and its heritage.
The renovation of this 40-year-old building introduces a new open interior to the upper floors, melding interior spaces with the outdoor patio areas.
The new upper floor, brilliantly crafted from a mass of glass and burnt wood, opens up to the soul of the front porch.”
